This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Hotel Boreal (“Hotel Boreal,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects through our website (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Site and to the emails and text messages we send through it. Your stay at the hotel may also be covered by the privacy terms of our reservation provider, described below.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Reservation requests: your name, email address, phone number, arrival and departure dates, number of guests, and any notes you add.
• Newsletter sign-up: your first name, last name and email address.
• Text message sign-up: your mobile phone number and your consent to receive texts.
• Gift card purchases: your name and contact details, the recipient’s details if you give them, and payment information, which is collected and processed by our payment processor rather than stored by us.
• Content you submit: photos, reviews, comments or other material you upload or post, along with the name you submit it under.
• Messages to us: anything you include when you email or contact us.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting and content-delivery provider receives technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request and the time of your visit, and keeps it in server logs used for security and to keep the Site running. When you close our reservation pop-up, your browser remembers that on your own device so the pop-up does not keep reappearing; this is not sent to us.

We do not currently use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies on the Site. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

2. How we use your information

• to respond to reservation requests and questions, and to arrange and manage your stay;
• to sell, issue and honor gift cards;
• to send newsletters, offers and updates by email, and promotional texts if you have opted in;
• to run packages, promotions and giveaways you take part in;
• to review and, where appropriate, publish content you submit;
• to keep the Site secure, prevent fraud and spam, and fix problems; and
• to comply with the law and enforce our Terms and Conditions.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. We share it only as follows:

• Service providers that work on our behalf and may use it only to provide their services to us — including Cloudbeds, our reservation system; the platform that receives our website forms and sends our emails and text messages; our payment and gift card processors; and Cloudflare, which hosts the Site.
• Publicly, when you submit content such as a photo or review that we publish.
• For legal reasons, when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Hotel Boreal, our guests or others.
• In a business transfer, if the hotel or its business is sold, merged or reorganized, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

4. Text messages

If you opt in to texts, we use your mobile number only to send you the messages you agreed to. Mobile numbers and text-messaging opt-in consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.

5. Your choices

• Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email we send.
• Stop texts by replying STOP.
• Ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove content you submitted, by contacting us as shown below.
• You can also block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.

Depending on where you live, including Minnesota, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, such as the right to know what we hold, to receive a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale or profiling. We will honor these requests as the law requires and will not treat you differently for making one. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above — for example, for the length of a reservation and any related accounting, tax and legal obligations, or until you unsubscribe from marketing — and then delete it or make it anonymous.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, and the Site is served only over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Other websites and services

The Site links to other websites and services, such as maps and local businesses, and our reservation and payment providers operate under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will make it clear on the Site.
